I thought my come back shall make you smile,
Not in the exterior but deep inside.
I wore the color that suited us,
thinking I still had not missed the bus.
Seeing me after so very long,
would you suddenly break into a song?
The sequence so fresh from a girly rom-com,
So what if it's mere non-sense to some!
I drove too fast, counting a hundred beat.
I could feel the throb from the head to my feet.
'Beam me up Scotti' from the Star Trek day,
chanting the phrase I made my way!
I saw you stand on the greens so wide,
cursing the love I still couldn't hide.
You waved at me like a distant acquaintance,
I played along keeping up the pretense.
The walk too candid and your pace ordinary,
The heart too broken and my face just weary.
It was like that wretched play,
When we got to the ending, Iago had his way!
Was my fate going to be the same?
The bed of blood with it's smothered love my only fame!
Ha! I am no pitiable princess I thought.
My luck was only mine to pot.
Charming smile and acting coy,
I knew how to spin my ploy.
Not on you! Oh! Never on you!
For your rotten heart had changed my view.
At this moment I have a promise to keep,
I'll have my brilliant ending, just to see you weep.!
